The Weekender Crew
The Weekender Crew is born of the wonderful requests I receive from amazing knitters to my inbox! Topping the list has always been an alternate neckline for those who aren’t comfortable in a boat neck, followed closely by a DK weight option, and something made in a warm-weather friendly yarn! But I didn’t stop there, I also decided to bring the drop shoulder down the sleeves for an extra polished finish, and of course - pockets! I hope this new Weekender Crew fills another gap in your wardrobe!

This sweater is worked from the bottom up, seamlessly, except for a small seam at the underarms. Starting with a split hem, the body is joined in the round and worked that way until the divide for the sleeves. The remainder is worked flat, and the shoulders are finished with an exposed seam created using the 3 needle bind off.

SUGGESTED YARN
I wanted a warm-weather friendly yarn for this newest version of The Weekender. I love a wool/cotton blend yarn, as it gives the lightness of the cotton, but it easier on my hands thanks to the elasticity of the wool! Dapple is a 2-ply, airy, woolen-spun yarn, dyed up into a beautiful array of weathered tonal color ways. I also knit a sample out of my handspun - a lovely 3-ply, 100% CVM wool yarn that is bouncy and warm and perfect for the cooler temperatures here in Maine! I’m excited to see the array of different yarns knitters choose to use to make this sweater perfect for their own climate!
Green Sample - Brooklyn Tweed - Dapple 60% Colorado Merino wool/40% Texas Organic Cotton (50 g/165 yds/150 m)
7 (7, 8, 9)(10, 10, 12)(12, 13, 14) skeins Seafoam
Grey Sample - 3 ply Handspun yarn, spun from 100% CVM wool
